UV printing on glass: what to agree before production

Illustration: AI visualisation

Printing on glass can decorate a surface, identify a product or mask selected areas. For furniture, shopfitting and device manufacturers, the brief should start with the artwork's function. An artwork file alone does not describe the complete component.

Define the function and clear areas

Explain what the print needs to achieve: show a logo, support the design with a pattern or conceal an area. Mark the surfaces that must remain clear. For device panels, display windows and other functional areas belong in the same project description.

Show viewing direction and installed orientation

Identify the intended user-facing side and the position of the glass in the finished product. This makes the artwork orientation clear. For transparent components, explain what sits behind the glass and how the installed product will be viewed.

Coordinate artwork with the component drawing

Send the artwork with a drawing that identifies dimensions, holes, cut-outs and print position. Name the current file revision and list any open questions. Resolve contradictory information before manufacturing starts.

Review the effect before repeat production

Material, lighting and background influence the visible result. Depending on the project, a sample or first component may help confirm the intended appearance. Record the agreed viewing direction and review conditions when assessing it.

ZWAKA Glass offers direct UV printing on glass for logos, markings, decoration and masking areas. Include the application, dimensions, quantity, artwork and requested delivery date with your enquiry. The final specification is agreed for each project.
