The first glass component: what to check before a production run

The first glass component for a furniture item or display system is ready. Before ordering further batches, review it against the intended construction and the agreed specification. A structured approval makes it easier to distinguish a confirmed feature from a point that still needs work.

Check it with the intended parts

Prepare the cabinet, frame or hardware specified for the project. Record whether these are final production parts or substitutes used for the trial. The person responsible for the construction and assembly should assess the fit. If something differs from the drawing, record its position and the stage at which it appeared. Do not force glass into place.

Assess appearance in its intended setting

View the component under the lighting and from the directions relevant to the finished product. Review the agreed material appearance, visible edges and any printing. Photographs are useful records when accompanied by a clear description of the observation and viewing conditions.

Record changes before approval

Separate accepted features from unresolved points. If the drawing, sample or parts list changes, identify the revision that applies to the next batch. A short approval record can capture changes to dimensions, cut-outs, processing or labelling and avoid conflicting instructions.

Prepare the next batch

Agree quantity, packaging and labelling in relation to your subsequent production steps. Approval of one component should be accompanied by a clear specification for repeat orders. ZWAKA Glass projects can begin with a prototype or small batch; the next stage depends on the project requirements and approval.
